Näyttää siltä, että 7-18. joulukuuta Kööpenhaminassa järjestettävän Yhdistyneiden Kansakuntien Ilmastokokouksen asialistalla on huomattavasti vakavampia aiheita kuin “ilmastonmuutos”. Konferenssin tarkoitus on luoda perusteet maailmanhallitukselle, jonka johtoon tulee aikanaan astumaan Raamatun ennustama Antikristus. Minulta kysyttiin hiljan kuinka runot syntyvät. Olen kuullut saman viattoman kysymyksen aiemminkin enkä ole tiennyt mitä vastata. Tälläkin kertaa kiemurtelin epämukavasti tuolillani yrittäen äkkiä löytää jonkinlaista vastausta kysymykseen, jota olen itsekin aika ajoin miettinyt minkäänlaiseen selkeään vastaukseen päätymättä.

Sanoin, että ne lähtevät mieleen tulevasta lauseesta tai ajatuksesta, jonka ympärille kehittelen jatkoa, vartta, lihaksia, kasvustoa.

Mutta vastaus ei ollut vastaus. Enhän oikeastaan vastannut kysymykseen. Esitin vain näkemykseni siitä, kuinka runon syntyprosessi lähtee käyntiin.

Miten runot sitten syntyvät? En edelleenkään tiedä. Ehkä ammattitaidolla on kuitenkin tekemistä asian kanssa. Ehkä ne sata tuhatta runoa, jotka kirjoitin ennen kahdeksaatoista ikävuottani eivät menneet täysin hukkaan: tiedän kuinka runo kirjoitetaan, vaikken osaakaan vastata kysymykseen, kuinka se kirjoitetaan.

Ehkä se on ammattisalaisuus.

Toinen kysymys. Ystäväni Suomesta kehoitti minua jokin aika sitten muuttamaan takaisin kotimaahan. Kiitin kutsusta ja sanoin, että taidan toistaiseksi jäädä tänne.

Rehellisesti: vaikka haluaisinkin palata Suomeen (mitä en halua), kuinka se onnistuisi? Minulla ei ole Suomessa asuntoa eikä halpa majoitus ole mahdollista, kuten täkäläisissä hostelleissa. Olisin siis asunnoton tai joutuisin majailemaan sukulaisten hoteissa. Kumpikaan ajatus ei houkuttele.

Lisäksi olisin työtön saamatta työttömyyskorvausta. Kirjailijan statuksestani johtuen työvoimatoimisto ei myönnä minulle minkäänlaista korvausta vaikka olisin puilla paljaila ja nälkäkuoleman partaalla. Karvaista kokemuksistani tiedän myös, että Suomesta ei löydy töitä. Etsin niitä epätoivoisesti, kun vielä asuin Suomessa. Parin viikon paketointitehdasreissua lukuun ottamatta en saanut mitään. Kaikki olisi kelvannut, vessansiivouksesta lähtien.

Miksi en siis muuta Suomeen? Kaksi syytä. Siksi että viihdyn täällä paremmin ja siksi, että Suomi on kallis. Vähäiset apurahani ja hanttihommani eivät riittäisi siellä elämiseen.

Sitä paitsi ilmasto soveltuu vaatteilleni paremmin täällä.

Kaikella on hintansa tässä maailmassa. Mitään ei saa ilmaiseksi. Rahan valta iskee kasvoille yhä uudestaan, kun rahaa on vähän.

Jumalan valtakunnassa kaikki on kuitenkin ilmaista. Hän antaa aurinkonsa paistaa niin hyville kuin pahoille: kukaan meistä ei ole hyvä. Hänen rakkautensa ei sekään maksa mitään. Jeesus on kuollut, jotta yksikään, joka häneen uskoo, ei joutuisi helvettiin.

Joka päivä tämä armo on uusi. Se paistaa Jeesuksesta kuin “taivaan aurinko”, kuten tässä laulussa sanotaan.

Snow is expected again in parts of South East Queensland tomorrow, reports Brisbane Times.

While this is not out of the ordinary — there is snow in the region almost every year — it does reinforce my conviction that the so-called man-made global warming is nothing but bad science and evil politics.

This poem started out as a blog post written in Suva, Fiji. Its second incarnation saw it as a poem written in Finnish. This text is yet another variation; not the same as the ones in Finnish but not completely different, either.

THE GREAT WHITE FIJI POEM

Cigarette smoke the gray clouds
	spreading in the lungs
		of space, the living stars,
the far-off drops of joy,
	the hair of palm trees,
